Administrative Appeals Tribunal

You can apply to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) if you do not agree with a SSAT decision regarding your Centrelink review.

SSAT staff cannot provide advice on whether you should or should not lodge an application for an AAT review. You may wish to seek legal advice before deciding whether to apply to the AAT.

A list of organisations which may be able to provide assistance about reviews of SSAT decisions is provided at Help with my application.

Please note that there is a time limit in which to lodge an application to the AAT. Applications to the AAT must be lodged within 28 days of the SSAT decision, which is sent to the applicant's last known postal address. You may wish to contact the AAT for advice as to the process of lodgement of an application to it.

Centrelink also has further review rights. This means that if an applicant's SSAT review is successful, Centrelink also has 28 days in which to decide whether or not to apply to the AAT.

For more information about the AAT please visit www.aat.gov.au
