Further Appeal Rights

Administrative Appeals Tribunal
You can appeal to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) if you do not agree with a SSAT decision regarding your Centrelink appeal.
SSAT staff cannot provide advice on whether you should or should not lodge an AAT appeal. You may wish to seek legal advice before deciding whether to appeal.
A list of organisations which may be able to provide assistance about appeals from SSAT decisions is provided at Help with my appeal.
Please note that there is a time limit in which to lodge a notice of appeal to the AAT. Appeals to the AAT must be lodged within 28 days of the SSAT decision, which is sent to the applicant's last known postal address. You may wish to contact the AAT for advice as to the process of lodgement of an appeal to it.
Centrelink also has further appeal rights. This means that if an applicant's appeal to the SSAT is successful, Centrelink also has 28 days in which to decide whether or not to appeal to the AAT.
